Why Team Dearborn?

So why is my blog named Team Dearborn? When Shane and I were looking to buy our first house, we put an offer on a cute little brick tudor on Dearborn Avenue. It needed a lot of work but it had some really good bones. A general contractor had purchased the house on spec, was gutting, remodeling and flipping the house and convinced us he was committed to restoring the house to its former glory. We put an offer on the house and were soon thereafter in contract.

What we learned in the next 2-3 months was that the remodeler had little to no sense of urgency for getting our house put back together in a way we'd be comfortable with the results. Shane and I tried dealing with the stress, the delays and the disappointments by forming our own support self-help group, Team Dearborn.

After many months of frustration, we finally decided to get out of the Dearborn house contract and have since purchased and remodeled a house and have been proud homeowners for 10+ years. Much has changed in our lives and in the house, however, the partnership and singular sense of purpose we've created has remained. This couple is still Team Dearborn!
